Applique with Freezer Paper (cont.)

Center your piece and hold it in place with pins on the background fabric. Attach it with an invisible stitch, leaving an opening along one of the long edges of the piece. (Do not cut off your thread yet.) You will later pull out the paper through this opening. (Optional: some people prefer to sew the piece closed and then remove the paper through a small opening cut on the back side of the background fabric.)

Remove the basting thread. With the tip of the scissors, loosen the paper.

Pull the paper out carefully, especially if you plan to use it again.

Finish stitching the opening closed. Voilá! A perfect piece.
