Rotary Cutter

If you are interested in machine piecing, you will not want to do without this item. This cutter allows you to cut several layers of fabric at a time. The use of the rotary cutter (along with the sewing machine) dramatically changed quilting procedures by allowing quilters to cut identical strips and patches at a time, reducing enormously the amount of time needed to cut the pieces of a quilt.

If you decide to invest in a rotary cutter, you should also purchase additional blades. Use it with great care and give it the same treatment you would to your valuable scissors. In order to use it, you will also have to purchase a self-healing mat and special ruler to cut out your pieces safely and accurately. (See next page)
