Intro

Perhaps the best way to learn something new is with a hands-on project. So we will sew this patchwork block together, step by step. The instructions in this section are for a hand-pieced block, because I feel this is the best way to understand the process in depth. In any case, at different points I will also give indications (in parenthesis) of how to proceed with machine piecing, should you choose to learn that procedure at the same time.

Before we begin our project, it's important that you understand the basic principles of drafting geometric patchwork blocks. Follow this tutorial in order, beginning with drafting, and moving on to templates, marking and cutting, and finally sewing.
