Who says office folders have to be drab? Make a whole set for yourself using favorite fabrics, or use them to "package" gifts!

For this project, use a large piece of a favorite fabric, or consider a piece of fabric collage like the one here and here, or use orphan blocks or any other combination you like!
The size of your folder depends on you. Since the most commonly used paper used in my part of the world is A4, I will use that size as a reference in my example. Please feel free to adapt for your own personal needs.
For my example, I wanted a folder that would measure 13 x 19" finished. I added 1 inch to the width and length for maneuvering, plus another 4" to the length for the pocket. So I cut my top fabric and backing 18 x 20". The same for a piece of thick interfacing. I then proceeded to fuse all three layers.
I used a folder I like to trim the top of my folder (rounded edges). You can leave yours straight, round the edges, or use any other shape you like.

I then zig-zagged all four sides. I folded the bottom up four inches for the pocket, and zig-zagged the pocket edges.

I then ran a straight stitch right down the middle of the folder, to help with folding it in half and to divide the pocket in two.

I'll be using one of these folders to hold my Quilting Halo and Supreme Slider, thus resolving my problem as to how to store them. Others I make will be the perfect "gift wrapping" for different gifts, like the drawing pad and box of coloring pencils showed below. I will use other folders to classify and carry my class handouts - I've been using regular folders, but these are so much nicer!
