This tip comes from one of our members, "Pickleweed."
I usually just gave my pieces less than a Fat Quarter to members of the guild. Your jewelry idea is so cute, makes me wish my daughters were still here being crafty.
Another use for scraps, especially batting, is making pet beds. Just sew up some muslim or other fabric you like and sew it together like a pillowcase. Then sew the fourth side closed except about 4 inches. In the opening that you leave you can then stuff in scraps of fabric, thread, batting until it is the desired fluffiness and then hand stitch the opening. Voila! You now have a bed for your pet to lay on while you sew and make more scraps for the next one. When it gets soiled just toss in the washer and dryer to re-use it again and again.

You can use just a few of those scraps to stuff this buddy's pillow!
