1. Prepare a folded background square in the same way as you would for the traditional or classic Cathedral Window, through the first fold. If necessary, please refer to the tutorial on The Basic Square block through step 4 on Preparing the Background Squares. In the illustrations below you have the graphic sequence of this process:



2. Bring the four corners to the center and press in place, but do not stitch them down yet. After pressing, unfold them again. The fold lines should be clearly visible.
3. Cut a square of contrasting or "window" fabric the same size as the finished folded background square. Lay this window fabric in osition on top of the background square, using the fold lines as a guide for positioning. Trim the window square slightly, so that the fold lines are just barely visible beyond its edges. Sew the square in place with a small running stitch 1/8" from the edge through all layers.
