Joining the Blocks

Whip-stitch the six "petal" hexagons together in pairs along the front side. Don’t cut your thread yet! Turn each pair around and whip-stitch the edges of the other side together. Make sure to sew all of your blocks this way, joining them both on the front and on the back:

Join the six hexagons, leaving one of the edges unsewn:

Sew the "petals" to the center hexagon and finish by closing the edge left open in the previous step:

Follow these same steps for the following round (and any after that). So far you have completed your first "flower:"

If you wish, you can continue adding rounds before joining all the flowers.

Wasn’t that easy? The advantage of this method is that not only is it portable, and you don’t have to hassle with a large quilting hoop, but as it is reversible you end up with two quilts in one!
